A lot of people have helped me over the years and I’d like to mention them....
The first person to introduce me to the FJ&G was Robert E. Bedford. Mr. Bedford was a lifelong trolley fan and also happened to be the City Of Johnstown, New York’s Historian. He invited me to his home and showed me his FJ&G Electric collection. He shared stories of the good ol’ days of the FJ&G and answered my many question.
Dave Nestle is the next person who helped me with all the questions I had on the FJ&G. He and his wife Pat Nestle also welcomed me into their home to share their wonderful FJ&G collection and also started me on my collection of Rail Photos at costs that were affordable to a bagger from the supermarket.
After a few years of a new website dedicated to the FJ&G, Paul Larner, railroad historian and author contacted me on the web with corrections for my innocent, but incorrect facts on the FJ&G. We became friends, set out to search every piece of the FJ&G history and he has shared photos and details that I am so lucky to be privy to!
Walter (Bill) Danylak. Walt was a great guy who grew up on the FJ&G and spent most of his life searching for info on this great shortline. If it wasn’t for him and his revival of The FJ&G Wednesday Night Club in Gloversville, I wouldn’t have met some great people who shared my interests in railroads and more than anything the wonderful history of the FJ&G. I miss you Walt, I know the rest of the group feels the same. Rest In Peace buddy!
I think the closest I’ll ever get to meeting a genius is my friendship with Mal Horton. Mal is a great guy who grew up riding FJ&G electrics in the 1930’s and went on to a career as an Electrical Engineer at the General Electric Works in Schenectady, New York. Mal has got a mind like a trap and has provided countless details of the twilight of the FJ&G Electric Division. Mal gave me a guided tour of the former FJ&G from Schenectady to Gloversville and I promise to do the same to the next person who asks me for the same!
Someone who I’ve met in recent years and who has taught me soooooo much about the FJ&G is Eber Davis. Eber grew up next door to the FJ&G right-of-way and documented her from the 1940’s until her end in the 1980’s. He shared his vast photo collection and through his documentation taught me what every INCH of the FJ&G looked like. A very shy man, but you won’t find anyone nicer!
So many people have contributed to this web-page and have shared their gained knowledge of the FJ&G...
In no particular Order: Randy Decker, Andy Fusco, Glenn Williams, Len Garver, Jerry Snyder, Mark Wilbur, Steve Lamora, Roland Bowers, Joe Klapkowski, Rand Warner, Charles Woolever, Paul Charland, John Stewart and last, but not least Aaron Keller.
If there is anyone I forgot, please forgive me for the oversight!
